Liquor become costlier in Himachal Pradesh

Indian brand’s liquor price will be increased by 6 percent and Indian made foreign liquor’s price will be increased by 21 percent in Himachal Pradesh after state government approved the new excise policy for 2011-12. This new policy aims at raising excise revenue, checking liquor smuggling, banning the use of PET liquor bottles and extending bar timings in the hotels.
Boosting floriculture sector in Uttarakhand

Situated at a height of 7,000 feet above sea level, Joshimath in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is the place where all families of roses are cultivated because of favourable climatic conditions.According to a survey conducted by the state-run Centre for Aromatic Plants (CAP) in Dehradun,roses were found to be grown aplenty in every nook and corner here.
For boosting the floriculture business, the state government has planned to rope in private companies to give fresh impetus to the production of various flowers. An investment of Rs 200 crore is expected in the floriculture sector, said top officials.
The state government is now all set to develop this flower bed at Joshimath, the wintry sojourn of the Badrinath shrine. The state government has signed an MOU with Indo Dutch Technologies Pvt Ltd for the development of special infrastructure facilities and floriculture planting material. This will foster the promotion of export quality flowers from the state.
Rohru now most popular market for apple in Himachal

Located some 115 km from the state capital on the banks of the Pabbar, Rohru emerged as the most popular market for apples among small markets in the state this year, as the hill state is set to produce a record apple crop.
“The Rohru market yard is a hit with farmers and buyers because unlike other smaller markets it has a reasonably good infrastructure of banks,budget hotels and space. It has a good road connectivity and is quite close to the Uttarakhand border,” said Rajeev Chauhan, Chairman of the Himalayan Apple Growers Society.
