Himachal CM Dhumal flags off 12th Raid De Himalaya 2010 Rally

Prof. Dhumal, CM, Himachal Pradesh flagged off the 12th Raid de Himalaya – 2010 motorsport rally from historic hotel Peterhoff, here in Shimla today. The rally had 175 participants from across the country and would cover a distance of about 2,000 kms in 6 days.

CM congratulated the organisers for successfully organising 11 rallies, since 1999. He added that Himachal Pradesh was proud to be at the forefront of what, was not just a motorsport event but a revolution of technology in the making.

The Raid had over the past decade, expanded its area of coverage to Laddakh, Kargil, Zanskar, Nubra and all the way over Khardungla Pass into the Kashmir valley. He also said that the event had moved a step further to include lower hills and riverbeds of the Shivalik ranges around the Sirsa River and the lands surrounding Nalagarh.

Rural tourism promotion with MNREGA: Himachal CM, Dhumal

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said “Linking the rural tourism promotional activities with the MNREGA programme can directly benefit the rural masses in generating additional income at their door steps”.Dhumal said Tourism contributed immensely to state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and engaged both unskilled and skilled manpower.

Himachal Pradesh to relocate Geu, a tribal village in Lahaul and Spiti known for mummified monk

Himachal state’s Geu, a tribal village in Lahaul and Spiti district known for a 550-year-old mummified body of a monk is going to relocated to a safer location after it was damaged in flash floods and heavy rainfall. Himachal Pradesh CM, Dhumal on directed the the district administration to relocate the village.

“We would extend all help to relocate the traditional tribal village Geu in the Spiti Valley at some safe location as it has been washed away due to flash floods, putting life and property in peril,” Dhumal said.

He added, “Alternate forest area at Silche near Hurling village has been identified by the state where the village could be easily relocated”.
